Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — WILSON — A Clarence man faces drinking-and-driving related charges after he flipped his truck in the 3100 block of Cambria-Wilson Road early Thursday.
Aaron D. MacDonald, 21, 9395 Willowwood Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, unsafe lane change and refusal to take a breath test.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded to a hit-and-run property damage accident around 12:51 a.m. Thursday. When the deputy arrived, he noticed a black Dodge Ram flipped over on its passenger side, facing south, in the front yard of a home on the 3100 block of Cambria-Wilson Road. MacDonald was walking north on the road, away from the accident, according to the arrest report.
The deputy questioned MacDonald, who said he'd been drinking at Jean's Bar on Young Street and left the bar after arguing with a friend, according to the arrest report.
An ambulance was called to evaluate MacDonald because of scratches on his arms and face. When it arrived, MacDonald refused to answer the paramedic's questions about how he was feeling, refused to go to the hospital and refused to sign the refusal paperwork, the arrest report said.
The deputy observed numerous empty and full Labatt Blue and Budweiser cans were scattered in and around MacDonald's truck.
MacDonald refused to submit to roadside sobriety tests, the arrest report said. He was held at the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 bail and is due in Wilson town court on Tuesday.
