Spray paint vandalism reported in Newfane

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NEWFANE — A basketball support wall on Corwin Avenue and a car parked on Exchange Street were spray painted late Thursday or early Friday.

According to a report filed with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, sometime between 8 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, a basketball court support wall was spray painted red, green and blue by an unknown person. The damage to the support wall is valued around $200 and will be repaired by the homeowner, who told a deputy he had no idea who may have done the damage.

A second report indicated that sometime between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, an unknown person spray painted the passenger side of a Dale Road man's vehicle while it was parked on Exchange Street. The person used red spray paint and sprayed a single line along the length of the vehicle's right side. Splashes of green paint were found on the right side as well; they are believed to be the last bits of paint from an empty can, the report said.

The victim said the passenger side of his vehicle was facing the road and that at no time did he see or hear anyone outside of the residence.

The two incidents occurred about a half mile apart, so the Sheriff's Office said an extra patrol vehicle would be in the area.
