ATV drivers annoy Gasport property owner

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — GASPORT — A property owner lodged a complaint with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office about a couple of unwelcomed guests Monday.

The man said he spotted several all-terrain vehicles driving on his Wilson Road property about 1:30 p.m. Monday. He also saw two males walking on his property who, when approached, ran into nearby woods, jumped on their ATVs and began driving in circles around him, kicking up dirt. The man said the ATV operators were not wearing helmets and they drove off into the woods.

While the responding deputy was interviewing the property owner, an ATV came out of the woods with two males aboard, neither of whom were wearing helmets. The deputy said both men had their faces covered by bandanas and they rode back into the woods when they saw her interviewing the property owner.

The victim said he wants the ATV drivers to stay off his posted property, which he is trying to sell. He declined to pursue charges in the matter.

The deputy said she would watch for ATVs in the area.
