CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A Beebe Road man reported that an unknown person damaged the tailgate on his truck while it was parked at Ransomville Speedway sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 1:30 a.m. Thursday, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. The man didn’t notice the damage until the daylight hours on Thursday. The tailgate was dented and the plastic molding was removed from the top of the tailgate and around the tailgate handle. The man said he thinks the unknown person may have used one of the logs in the bed of his truck to damage the tailgate. The man said he’s never had problems at the speedway, but that his son, who races, upset another racer two weeks ago and the incident may be retaliation. Stickers on the truck identify it as being affiliated with his son’s racing team, the man said. The man said he was going to attempt to find the molding at the speedway, and would let the Sheriff’s Office know if he found it.
INJURED PERSON: A Washington Street man was injured while working on the Firehouse Tavern on Young Street at about 5:56 p.m. Wednesday, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. A witness to the incident said the victim had been working at the tavern for the majority of the day, painting the front side of the building red. The witness said he had a short conversation with the man and then heard a crash. The ladder had fallen off of the ladder jacks and was on the side of the building. The witness then saw the man and the ladder fall on Young Street. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man had several injuries, including arm, rib and possible leg injuries. The man was taken to the hospital by Mercy Flight and none of the injuries were life threatening.
