Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Williamsville woman was transported to the Erie County Medical Center at about 4:30 p.m. Friday after being struck by debris from an exploding target at a residence on the 8400 block of Seaman Road in Hartland, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said.
Anthony J. Nappa, 29, 735 South Main St., Medina, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment in the incident.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred after Nappa said he placed approximately one half pound of tannerite on a target set on wooden logs and shot it with a rifle. The victim, who was standing 60 feet away from the target, was struck by part of a log that had exploded when the target was hit, knocking her to the ground.
The woman suffered injuries to her right arm, chest and head, the Sheriff's Office said.
Nappa was released and given an appearance ticket for July 22 in Hartland Town Court.
