Woman cries for help, police respond

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — City police came to the aid of a woman who was screaming “Help me! Help me!” at a Chapel Street residence at 4 a.m on Tuesday.

Nathaniel L. Westcott, 25, 243 Chapel St. lower was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and two counts of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Police had responded to a report from a caller who heard screaming. The police knocked on doors and windows several times on Chapel Street and got no response.

The caller said he heard bangs, which sounded like a door being slammed, loud screems and whimpering. The caller was concerned with a child in the home.

The officers heard a woman cry, “Help me. Help me,” and broke through an exterior door. Police saw a woman in a small space between a bed and wall crying for help.

Westcott refused to follow orders, or place his hands behind his back to be handcuffed, the report said. The officers found inside the dwelling small bottles of alcohol and a prescription bottle with various types of pills.
