Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Lockport teen has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a Newfane youth.
Jared A. Person, 18, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual act, a felony, and sexual misconduct Thursday.
A New York State Police investigator received a report from the state Department of Social Services' Child Abuse Hotline earlier this month regarding the sexual assault of a person younger than 17 years old. Person is accused of assaulting the victim "with force" in Newfane, the agency said in a Saturday press release.
Also Thursday, state police leveled single charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment against Person in connection with a March 27 incident in the Town of Lockport. Troopers responded to a complaint of a fight in progress at 6557 Lincoln Place and, after an investigation, accused Person of beginning the verbal and physical altercation with another male, which caused damage to a wall in the apartment building hallway.
Person was arraigned in Lockport Town Court and was ordered held on combined bail of $3,000. He's due to answer the sex charges in Newfane Town Court on May 6 and the mischief and harassment charges in Lockport court on May 8.
