Man cited after hit-and-run

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — PENDLETON — A man faces charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident after a sheriff's deputy tracked him down late Friday.

Michael J. Dio, no age or address listed, is charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, refusal to take a breath test and two traffic violations after a two-vehicle collision on Beach Ridge Road around 11:30 p.m.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a deputy interviewed a man who said his eastbound moving vehicle collided with a white Chevrolet pickup that veered into his lane after pulling out of the driveway at Scooter's Place bar, 4869 Beach Ridge Road.

Road patrol units located the pickup parked in the driveway at 4823 Beach Ridge Road. The pickup had front-end damage and Dio had the keys to it, the sheriff's report said.

Dio was charged after acknowledging he had been drinking at Scooter's, the report said. Dio refused a breath test and was taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $250 police bail.
