Cops catch up with burglary suspect

A Medina man suspected of a burglary in Lockport on Sept. 5 was nabbed by Lockport detectives in Tonawanda on Thursday.

Jonathan K. Banks, 23, 4886 South Townline Road, Medina was charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny. 

According to the report, Banks was detected during a burglary at 5:20 a.m. on Sept. 5 on High Street. Albion and Medina police assisted Lockport police in the investigation and learned that the suspect may be in Tonawanda.

With the help of the Buffalo police, Banks was tracked in Tonawanda by Det. Capt. Richard Podgers and Detective Kevin Schrader of the Lockport Police Department. He was standing in front of a screen door, taken to the floor and handcuffed.

Banks is being held at the Niagara County Jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 property bail. Because of similar incidents in Orleans County, the incident is still being investigated,
