Woman, 19, faces assault charges

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A 19-year-old Town of Lockport woman, who allegedly forced her way into a neighboring Robinson Road apartment Monday, has been arrested by Niagara County Sheriff's deputies and is scheduled to appear in town court today.

Deanna L. Cusatis, 19, 6343 Robinson Road was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; third-degree assault, a misdemeanor; and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

According to the report, Cusatis and another woman began pounding on the door of a Robinson Road apartment about 9 p.m. Cusatis began yelling at victim, saying she owed her $20. The victim, 45, said she could settle the money at a later date.

Cusatis, who was allegedly intoxicated, and the other woman left for a short amount of time, but returned and began pounding on the door again. The victim stated that she then grabbed a razor blade that was on the table to protect herself.

The door was kicked open, breaking the handle, and Cusatis began to punch the victim who was on the couch. The victim said she cut Cusatis in the face with the blade to protect herself. 

Both of the females left the residence, fleeing in a pink vehicle, which was later located at Lockport Hospital. 

Deputies found Cusatis at Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport with lacerations to the face, chest, and hands. She was was transported to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and she was arraigned. She is to report to the Town of Lockport Court at 1 p.m. today.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pursued. There are two persons of interest.

The victim was transported by Rapids Fire to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Newfane Hospital, complaining of pain in the head.
