Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Police departments in Hamburg and Lancaster helped Lockport police nab a suspect in a West Calendonia Street theft of two safes that occurred on March 28.
Joshua S. St. George, 35, 1 Saint Davids Road, Lancaster was charged with third-degree grand larceny and fifth-degree possession of stolen property at Lockport Police Headquarters on Wednesday. In April, St. George was arrested in North Tonawanda for second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery, fourth-degree conspiracy, grand larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal impersonation.
St. George and Emily Bonczar of North Tonawanda were captured by Tonawanda Police after a purse snatching at Tops Market. They were held in lieu of $25,000 bail at the Niagara County Holding Center on April 28. Charges are pending for Bonczar who is being held in the Erie County Jail.
According to the March 28 report, several items valued at $7,800 were taken from the Calendonia Street home sometime after midnight. The victim woke up at 7:10 a.m. to find the safes missing. There was no sign of forced entry.
Items taken included a $6,000 wedding ring, a gold wedding band, a gold cross, a coin collection valued $200 and a $500 laptop computer. Also missing were 200 opana pills.
Because St. George had relatives in Lancaster, the Lancaster police were notified. The Hamburg police located the two safes behind the Econo Lodge in Blasdell. St. George had checked into the motel on March 27 and left on March 28. He was driving a Chevy Cruz.
An arrest package was filed for St. George and Bonczar. On Tuesday, St. George was picked up by the Lancaster police. He was taken into custody and processed by the Lockport police at 12:30 p.m.
