Police follow blood trail to suspect

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport Police followed a blood trail Tuesday morning to capture a Hill Street man who faces criminal mischief and petit larceny charges after breaking several car windows overnight.

Michael M. Kearns, 23, 53 Hill St. was charged with third-and-fourth degree criminal mischief and petit larceny. He reportedly punched several car windows on Hawley Street and suffered cuts on his hand. 

According to the report, Kearns punched passenger windows belonging to vehicles on Hawley and Niagara Streets and threw a rock through a car window. He allegedly took a check book from one of the vehicles.

The police received a report of a suspicious man wearing shorts punching and breaking windows on Hawley and Niagara Streets. A witness saw the man running through a back yard on Niagara Street to Hawley Street. 

The police followed a blood trail leading from a damaged vehicle which led them to Kearns just before 3 a.m. His left had was covered with blood and cuts.

One victim reported a large rock was thrown through her window while it was parked on Niagara Street.
