Man charged with kidnapping

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A South Transit Street man, who was charged with kidnapping and attempted kidnapping, will return to City of Lockport felony court at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

At 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, police were alerted  to a woman being tied up, face down in the back seat of a car in a driveway on South Transit Street. According to the report, the woman's hands and feet were bound with duct tape. Police freed the victim and learned of a possible assault on the second floor of the apartment.

A press release from Lockport Police Department says they had learned that the suspect had attacked an adult male "and attempted to secure him with duct tape."

Officers Toby Trowbridge and Steve Ritchie did not see the men fighting, but saw both men were sweating and had minor cuts on their hands. William S. Johnson, 35, 132 South Transit St. was taken into custody and charged with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree attempted kidnapping.

The Lockport Fire Department treated the female victim. The male victim and a witness signed voluntary statements.

Johnson appeared in City Court on Wednesday and held on $1,500 bail.
