Man charged in attempted burglary

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A city man is facing charges stemming from an attempted burglary of the doctor’s office just below his home.

Allen J. Tomaino, 26, 225 East Ave., Apt. upper, was charged Tuesday night with second-degree attempted burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree criminal mischief. He was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Lockport City Court.

Lockport Police were called to a doctor’s office at 225 East Ave., where according to a witness, a man with a green shirt was trying to break in by using a crow bar to jar the door open.

Another man was with the suspect but he did not participate and wasn’t charged, police said.

Officers found two men nearby at the intersection of Chestnut and Spring streets, located about 500 feet from the doctor’s office. Tomaino, wearing a green shirt, had a crow bar in the bed of his truck which was parked nearby, the arrest report said.

Tomaino was arrested without incident and was identified by the witness.

Approximately, $1,200 damage was done to the door, police said.
