Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — ALBION — A month-long investigation into the sale and distribution of crack cocaine in this Orleans County village led to the arrest of a Lockport man last week.

John Butler, 32, 5794 Sweetwood Drive, was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation Dec. 6 after searches of a vehicle in Albion and Butler's apartment.

Officers from the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force, Albion Police Department and the Orleans County Sheriff's Department descended upon a parked vehicle on South Main Street and seized 43 bags of crack cocaine from it. Police said Butler was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Butler's apartment was searched by officers from the Niagara County Drug Task Force and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Butler was arraigned in Albion Town Court and was held without bail at the Orleans County Jail. He was due to return to court Wednesday.
