Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

A man was stabbed in a Locust Street parking lot Wednesday night.

According to Lockport Police Department, two men were in a fight over personal matters and one stabbed the other with a switchblade.

The victim, a Lockport resident, suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and side, LPD said. He was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital and was later transferred to Erie County Medical Center.

The victim's suspected attacker, Chad Michalak, 32, 183 Elmwood Ave, fled the parking lot, at Locust and Walnut streets, and went to a location on Lincoln Avenue. Michalak was later found at that location and was taken into custody without incident by Lockport officers, with assistance from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police.

Michalak is now charged with first-degree assault, second-degree menacing and three counts of fourth-degree weapon possession.

Michalak's vehicle was towed to the police department for an inventory search in which a second switchblade and metal knuckles were found, LPD said.
