Lockport Union-Sun & Journal

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Witnesses reported three gun shots being fired near Works Place alley near the corner of Walnut and Washburn streets just before 5 p.m. on Thursday. A woman was terrified as she called 911 from the Gulf Station at that corner.

"I was working and a lady came in from outside saying that they heard some gun shots. She screamed, 'Call the cops, call the cops,' " said the employee who was working behind the counter. "She grabbed the phone from someone else and called the cops. She called the cops and took the matter in her hands."

Police got the call at 4:46 p.m. and found evidence near Works Place, locking down the alleyway and questioning possible witnesses. Police examined the video at the convenience store but hot divulged what they may have seen on them.

"One witness said there were three individuals on the side of the store here and she heard three different gun shots being fired," said  Lt. Brian Wentland. "We do have evidence from the tapes (that shots were fired.)"

The area has had

On Christmas night, there was a shotgun blast at the nearby 100 block of Genesee Street and felony charges were levied against Kenneth Houghton. Wentland does not believe the incidents are related.

Also, a few months back, patrons from Pat's Place bar across the street from the Gulf station ran to the aid of the station employee at the time when there was an attempted robbery at the station.
