Assault suspect arrested

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

One of the two suspects, allegedly involved in an assault at the 21st Amendment early Sunday morning was arrested by Lockport Police on Tuesday night.

Corey W. Arnold, 33, 39 Orchard St. was charged with third-degree assault. He was arrested by Detective Kevin Schrader and officer Anthony Pittman at 6:58 p.m. at police headquarters.

There was a $1,000 reward offered leading to the arrest. No details of the arrest were available.

Police responded to the Main Street bar early Sunday for the report of a fight and found the victim lying on the ground in the bar area with blood on his face and around the back of his head. The victim said he did not know who punched him.

According to the report, a witness, who entered the bar with the victim said, a black male, wearing a dark hoodie walked up and punched the victim without warning. The witness was then struck in the head from behind by a second person.

The victim was transported to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport for treatment. The witness had no visible injuries and refused treatment.

The owner of 21st Amendment had video of the incident, but neither the reporting officer or the bar owner recognized the suspects.

On Tuesday, the investigation was completed and Arnold was charged. A second suspect was not identified.
