Impact arrest nets man with warrants

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

An impact-area stop by Lockport police on Thursday netted a suspect who had two outstanding warrants — one from Texas and another from the Town of Niagara.

Zane Raymond Werner, 29, 273 Nassau St., Kenmore was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and was arrested. A Lockport man, who was a passenger in the car, was not charged.

The patrol car was stopped for a red light on High Street. There were three cars in front of the patrol and a driver was summoning someone on the sidewalk to his vehicle which obstructed the flow of traffic. Moments later, a person entered the vehicle which proceeded on High Street and on Day Road. Werner said he was on his way to Ransomville and picked up a friend.

According to the report, there were inconsistencies in their accounts and both appeared nervous. A check of Werner revealed he had two outstanding warrants — one in Texas for Issuing a bad check and another out of the Town of Niagara for aggravated unlicensed operation.

Werner also had a suspended New York State license. He was turned over to the Town of Niagara Police for further processing on the outstanding warrant.
