Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — During a routine search for a stolen Dodge pick up, the Niagara County Sheriffs patrol located the vehicle and made a drug arrest on Washburn Street on Tuesday.
Jacqueline Phoenicia Barrett, 27, 42 Lake Ave. was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, grand larceny, operating an unregistered motor vehicle on the highway and no inspection.
According to the report, Barrett took the vehicle to Genesee Street and then to Ashley Place. Barrett went to a local drug dealer's home in an effort to buy crack cocaine, but she was unable to buy the drugs.
The owner reported she heard her vehicle start in the driveway on Lake Avenue. She looked out her window she saw the truck back up and then pull away from her residence. Barrett had recently been evicted from the residence.
The registration for the 2001 Dodge pickup expired in 2010 as did the inspection.
The patrol located two glass tubes with blackened ends stuffed with wire mesh. There was also residue of "crack" cocaine on the wire. Barrett was remanded to the custody of Niagara County Jail in lieu of $750 police bail.
Barrett is scheduled to appear in the City of Lockport Court at 9:30 a.m. today. She is also scheduled to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on Thursday to answer the grand larceny charge.
