Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Four teenage boys face criminal charges after they were seen trying to take a length of chain-link fencing away from a South Niagara Street property on Monday.

Charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fifth-degree conspiracy and third-degree criminal trespass are: Brandon A. Brott, 16, 72 Charlotte St.; Joshua M. Herman, 17, 5840 Robinson Road; Cory M. Huber, 18, 29 Harwood Place; and Cedrick J. Luke, 17, 45 Ontario St. They all were being held without bail ahead of arraignment today in City Court.

City police went to property in the 100 block of South Niagara Street on Monday in response to a tip from a witness who claimed to have interrupted as three males tried loading the fencing — 106 feet of commercial-grade chain link fence valued at $1,200 — onto a truck.

Police caught up with one of the suspects, who provided them with the names of three others involved in the scheme. The youth admitted he and his cohorts intended to sell the fencing for scrap value, according to the arrest report.

The property owner told police that about $2,500 in metal goods had been removed from the property recently. Investigation of those losses is ongoing, police said.
