A Lockport man called 911 late Wednesday and reported that he felt he was too drunk to continue driving.
According to a Sheriff's report, the driver during the phone call said he "was intoxicated and couldn't drive any further." The report indicated the vehicle was on Campbell Boulevard.
A Niagara County Sheriff's deputy responded to the area just before 11 p.m. He found a vehicle parked on the east side shoulder of Lockport Junction Road, north of Saunders Settlement Road. Sitting in the driver's seat was Patrick E. Kelly, 33, of 5033 Escarpment Drive.
The report said Kelly told the deputy that he was intoxicated and stopped driving because he didn't want to hurt anyone.
As the deputy continued to interview Kelly he said that he had about 8 beers at an Amherst bar and then drove his girlfriend home and was now on his way home.
The deptuy noticed signs of intoxication, and Kelly failed field sobriety tests. He registered a 0.15 blood alcohol content on a breath test.
Kelly was remanded to the Niagara County Jail and bail was set at $250.
