Cambria cars broken into

CAMBRIA —The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of car break-ins that were reported Thursday in the town and have a suspect.

The reported events took place on Shunpike, Plank, Buddand Van Dusen roads sometime overnight.

At 12:51 a.m. the patrol responded to the 4200 block of Plank Road for a report of a suspicious female entering vehicles in the area. The caller said an unknown woman, driving a dark colored four-door sedan, stopped in front a home and then shut the engine off. The woman had a flashlight and entered a tan Ford Explorer and then enter the passenger side of a tan Jeep Wrangler. The female was inside each vehicle for approximately two minutes.

The woman crossed the roadway and walked up the driveway of a neighbor's residence. The witness yelled at the female to stop but the suspicious woman went back to her vehicle and left on Plank Road. While conducting interviews, a female matching the description was discovered inside of a vehicle located at Van Dusen Road.

Patrol observed a dome light on the vehicle and observed the suspect in the driver's seat with the driver side door ajar. The suspect, who did not own the car, stated she was looking for jumper cables but then allegedly admitted to taking change from the car. The homeowner confirmed that loose change was missing from both of her vehicles. The suspect was told that she will be contacted by NCSO in near future.

On Shunpike Road, a victim reported two ipods valued at $500 and a Sears $100 gift card were stolen. On Budde Road, $67 was taken from a wallet and another $10 in change was taken from the console.
