Coach Bruce Matthews and the Royalton-Hartland boys swim program have been building quite a monster in the water for some time now.
But even the Rams’ latest achievement is something that not many could have seen coming. In front of a capacity crowd at the Roy-Hart pool, the Rams won their 100th consecutive regular season meet on Tuesday, a 110-60 non-league thrashing of Attica.
Needless to say, Matthews was quite pleased afterwards.
As Matthews made his way up and down the sideline offering support to his swimmers throughout the meet, Roy-Hart started out strong and steadily built a lead that proved insurmountable. The team of Lyle Wagner, Evan Conley, Roy Phipps and Ray Sack struck first with victory in the 200 medley relay, and Nich DiNardo followed suit by winning the 200 freestyle.
Wagner won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, while DiNardo added the 500 freestyle to his resume. Roy Phipps took the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and Sack won the 100 butterfly.
The team of David Brooks, Mason Sparks, Conley and DiNardo won the 200 freestyle relay, and Tanner Reese won the 100 breaststroke.
