Lockport shuts out West Seneca West

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A 24-point first quarter outburst Saturday propelled Lockport to a 30-0 victory over visiting West Seneca West, giving head coach Greg Bronson’s Lions Class AA football’s final playoff spot.

With the win, Lockport joins Jamestown, Frontier, Orchard Park, Kenmore West, Lancaster, Clarence and Niagara Falls into the AA postseason, which opens next weekend at the higher seed.

LHS junior quarterback Tyler Fraass (9 of 16, 76 yards, 2 TDs) and senior wide receiver Charlie Sobieraski (3 catches, 62 yards, 2 TDs) hooked up for two first quarter scores on pass plays of 30 and 10 yards.

Lions junior running back Nick Hamilton (18 carries, 149 yards, 2 TDs) added a 15-yard first quarter TD run and a 48-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.

Lockport senior Mo Townsend rushed 9 times for 82 yards and led the blue and gold defense with 11 tackles. Junior Stephen Yaremo and senior Malik Harden chipped in with interceptions for Lockport (2-4 AA, 3-4 overall). West Seneca West — the only one of nine AA teams that did not qualify for the playoffs — finished 0-6 in the division and were 0-7 overall.
