COURTS: Supervisor who allegedly falsified records set for trial March 5.

A supervisor at Lockport’s post office branch accused of filling out false timecards is scheduled for trial in Lockport City Court.
Leo J. Wheeler, 56, 4305 Transit Road, Depew, is charged with six misdemeanor counts of second-degree falsifying business records.
In city court Wednesday, Wheeler scheduled a non-jury trial for March 5, though his attorney, Frank Buffomante, said a plea deal may be reached by then.
Wheeler, a post office delivery supervisor, is accused of falsifying the time in attendance records for a female employee under his supervision.
Wheeler allegedly made false entries in the time records for the woman on at least six occasions, allowing her to be compensated for time when she was not actually clocked in.
The charges relate to incidents on April 24, April 26, May 4, May 12, May 31 and June 14, according to police reports.
The female employee has not been charged in connection with the case.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Lockport Police Department and the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General.
Agapi Doulaveris, spokeswoman for the OIG, said Wheeler has been placed on administrative leave from the post office.
