When Katherine Savant and her friends went to a taping of “The Price is Right” in Los Angeles, she expected to have a good time.
She didn’t expect to hear her name called.
But sure enough, the Lockport native will be seen on an upcoming episode of the CBS game show.
Savant, formerly Katherine O’Connor, is a a 2000 graduate of Lockport High School. She now lives in Santee, Calif., with her husband, Michael, and their four dogs.
The episode, taped March 23, will air at 11 a.m. Wednesday on WIVB, channel 4.
Savant’s mother, Teresa Manna, said she can’t reveal exactly how her daughter did on the show, but she’s excited to see the episode.
“I’m so proud of her,” Manna said. “I can’t wait to see it.”
Manna got an excited phone call from her daughter shortly after the taping was finished.
Savant also called her husband, who was at home sleeping, to tell him she had been on the show, Manna said.

“He goes, ‘Yeah, right, whatever,’ and hung up,” Manna said, laughing. Even after she called back, “he wouldn’t believe her for nothing.”
Savant, a first-class petty officer in the U.S. Navy, was at the show with several of her fellow officers. She told her mother that when her name was called, she didn’t notice it at first and assumed all her friends were jumping up and screaming because one of their names had been called.
“She said, ‘I sat in my seat,’” Manna said. “They were all going nuts.”
