n DOG BITE: An employee at the U.S. Post Office on East Avenue reported Thursday that while a postal employee was making a delivery at a home on Hidden Oak Drive, the homeowner’s dog came outside and bit her in the right thigh. The victim reportedly went to the doctor to be examined, and the dog’s medical information was to be faxed to the post office, the report said.
n VEHICLE FIRE: An East Amherst woman told deputies Thursday that while she was driving her 2000 Dodge on South Transit Road about 9 a.m. she noticed smoke coming from the passenger side front tire, and the floor of the vehicle became hot. She pulled over, and a witness from a nearby business ran to her car with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. The vehicle is worth about $5,000, and the woman said she had just gotten it back from a repair shop, where over $1,000 of work had been done. The Rapids Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene.

n LARCENY: A Bishop Road, Grand Island woman told deputies that while her car was parked outside Bon Ton on Williams Road, someone stole a blue evening gown and shawl that were on a hanger in the backseat. The woman said the passenger side window was down. The gown and shawl were worth about $350, the report said.
