CLARENCE: Lockport motorcyclist strikes deer on Transit Road

A Lockport man is recovering from injuries he suffered when he reportedly struck a deer while riding his motorcycle in Clarence on Wednesday evening.

New York State Police said James J. Huntz, 59, was riding his motorcycle north on Transit Road in the Town of Clarence, about a half-mile north of Roll Road, when a deer entered the roadway from the west shoulder.

The deer struck Huntz, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle, the report said.

The East Amherst Fire Department treated Huntz at the scene, and he was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Twin City Ambulance.

He was listed in stable condition Thursday.

Amherst police assisted state troopers with traffic control.
