MARJIM MANOR: Haunted? Stay tuned!

APPLETON — Ghost Hunters kept their equipment ready for some unexplained noises and dark figures in their mission to debunk ghost stories at the Winery at Marjim Manor.
They departed, leaving fans and skeptics unconvinced of paranormal behavior, but still wondering.
There were 180 guests at the 18th century house watching the internationally known program “Ghost Hunters” on the Sci-Fi channel. They enjoyed wine and snacks before the 9 p.m. televised event. They jammed into three rooms and under a tent to watch television and “sh-sh’d”
the kibitzers so the TV investigators could be heard.
Winery owner Margo Sue Bitter addressed her audiences after the show and said the ghost hunters found more at her home that they did not put in the 30-minute segment.
Some of the guests dressed up as the ghosts of the manor. Others took advantage of the event to wear strange Halloween costume. Guests were in good humor and polite.
“I hope something will walk up behind me and pull my hair,” said Michaela Thompson of Lockport who is a regular viewer. “I hope that they actually find something and that we’ve come here for a good cause.”
There was good cause. Whether anything was found was up to the viewer.
As the ghost hunters drove away, they said they would return to Marjim Manor. Were there strange sounds and voices? Friday’s story will disclose what they did disclose.
