BLOTTER: Police reports published Oct. 31
City of Lockport
• LARCENY: Christopher M. Williams, 122 Chestnut St., Apt. 3, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny. On Friday, officers responded to Elmwood Avenue to the report of a stolen vehicle. A police report said upon arrival, patrol interviewed the caller who said the suspect had been living with her for the past two days. She later told police she noticed Williams, her car and car keys missing. She also told police that her purse was gone, containing a wallet with credit cards and $350 in cash. Patrol found Williams and took him into custody.
• ASSAULT: James Griggs, 26, 152 Cottage St., Apt. 5, was accused of third-degree assault on Friday. A police report said the victim was assaulted by Griggs while walking on Transit Road near the Niagara Hotel. A witness reportedly told police that another suspect punched the victim in the head, and once the victim was on the ground, Griggs used his foot to stomp on him. A police report said the victim was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport with a gashed head and a concussion.
Lewiston
• DWI: Anthony D. Hicks, 26, 6600 Dysinger Road, Lockport, was charged with first-degree driving while intoxicated on Friday. Officers said they pulled over a vehicle they observed traveling 24 mph in a 45 mph zone. Deputies smelled alcohol on the suspect’s breath and when asking Hicks if he had been drinking, the defendant admitted he had, according to the report. A police report said Hicks failed all sobriety tests and his blood alcohol content was 0.16. Hicks was reportedly taken to the Niagara County Jail and held in lieu of $250 bail.
Wheatfield
• DWI: Michael P. Guereschi, 34, of Niagara Falls was charged with driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated licensed operation and failure to keep right. On Friday, a sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic. After stopping the vehicle, officers reportedly observed signs that he was drunk, but Guereschi denied drinking. The suspect reportedly failed all sobriety tests given. The sheriff’s office said the suspect was taken to Niagara County Jail and held in lieu of $750 bail.
Hartland
• FRAUD: On Thursday night, officers were dispatched to Ridge Road for a fraud complaint. Officers said the victim “received an acknowledgment from Verizon Wireless regarding the purchase of two cellular phones, as well as a two-year wireless plan.” The victim allegedly denied the purchase and canceled the account, claiming he was a victim of identity theft. Upon investigation, deputies said the phones were delivered to the West Coast. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
• LARCENY: On Friday a Main Street, Ransomville, woman reportedly contacted police about an unknown suspect allegedly stealing items from her shed. A police report said the items stolen totaled at $1,380. The incident is under investigation.
Newfane
• LARCENY: Deputies responded to a call from a 20-year-old Newfane man who reportedly told patrol that when he tried to withdrawal money from his Bank of America account, he found there wasn’t any. He said a bank teller who checked records found that the money was withdrawn from his account at three different times from an ATM, leaving no money. A bank official reportedly assured sheriff’s deputies and the victim that they would take a look at the security tapes to identify a suspect.
