CITY OF LOCKPORT: A. A. Nodine Insurance Center coming to East Side

— A.A. Nodine Insurance Center is coming to the East Side.
After 16 years, the insurance company is moving from Towne Square Plaza in the Town of Lockport to an office at 255 East Ave. in the city. Patricia Nodine said the move offered some benefits to the firm that were not available in the plaza.
“We rented at Towne Square, and this we purchased,” she said. “It gives us something other than rent receipts. I think that was a good move.”
Nodine added that the new location makes the company more visible to people, something the company had some trouble with in the plaza.
The big move will be finished today, and the company will complete the process over the weekend. Monday morning, A.A. Nodine Insurance will be open for its first business day at the new location on East Avenue.
Patricia, who also has been a real estate agent for 35 years, works with her son, Robert G. Nodine. The company offers insurance in a variety of fields including life, auto and homeowners.
“We’re all over,” Robert said.
Nodine Insurance handles 3,000 personal and 280 commercial insurance accounts. The large number of customers is part of the reason for the move, the Nodines said.
“If it wasn’t for our customers and if it wasn’t for our staff, we wouldn’t be here,” Robert G. Nodine said. “It’s not about us.”
Both customers and staff are excited about the move, Robert G. Nodine added.
Nodine Insurance has been in business since 1920, when it was first opened by Patricia’s father-in-law, Albert Nodine. Patricia’s husband, Robert A., took over Nodine Insurance in 1956 after he came home from the Korean War. Robert G. worked for his father for 15 years. Robert A. passed away in 2006.
The new office building is where the Seaman law office used to be. Some of the changes the Nodines are making include parking in the back, a new bathroom in the back of the house and a storage room where an “ugly old bathroom” used to be, according to Patricia. She worked on the hardwood floors.
Patricia said there are families that have come to Nodine for years, and it could be because they know what they get.
“We’ve been around a long time,” Patricia said. “My husband always said we take pride in our service.”
