Trooper injured in two-vehicle collision

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

A civilian and a state trooper were both treated for injuries after their vehicles collided early Wednesday on the William Gregory Bypass.

Riley Wahl, 20, of Akron, was headed northbound on Route 93 about 8 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and it collided with state police Lt. Craig Wing's patrol vehicle.

Wing, who works out of the Lockport barracks, suffered a fractured elbow and fractured wrist and was treated at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, state police Sgt. Mike Lepcyzk said. Wahl was taken to Erie County Medical Center with a possible head injury.

No charges were filed against Wahl on Thursday. Investigation is ongoing, according to Lepczyk.
