Advisory Committee should see ice arena plans, city planners say

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The city Planning Board on Monday recommended the architects of the Lockport Ice Arena & Sports Center to present plans to the Traffic Advisory Committee for safeguarding pedestrians crossing Chestnut Street to get into the facility.

The $13 million arena is scheduled to open in September. The municipal parking lot is across from the arena site on Chestnut Street.

The recommendation was made as the board approved a request for a minor change to the traffic plan on the site, changing a rear driveway off Union Street from two-way to one-way traffic. Planning board members said presenting the plans to the committee will not affect the project’s timeline.
