Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — ‘Firestoppers’ to visit Lockport
“Team Firestopper” will visit Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee St., on March 29 to distribute smoke detectors and fire safety/emergency preparedness information in the neighborhood.
The joint initiative of the American Red Cross, Project Paradigm and the Children’s Fire and Burn Fund is aimed at low-income, at-risk communities in the Western New York/Finger Lakes regions. Teams are being dispatched in eight cities.
At Grace Episcopal, 100 smoke detectors will be given away and assistance will be provided to recipients to ensure their proper installation in homes.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be demonstrations of fire materials and hands-only CPR, instruction in making escape plans and what to include in an emergency supply kit. Prevention and preparedness activities for youths will also be provided. The event is open to the public at large.
Ahead of Team Firestoppers’ visit, volunteers will visit neighborhoods around Grace Episcopal and provide residents with basic Red Cross fire safety information and details about the upcoming event.
