Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport Police are investigating a shooting that reportedly took place at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Walnut Street.
Police said numerous residents in the area, which is roughly between Pound Street and Wilson Parkway, called 911 to report they had heard a series of gunshots. No injuries were reported.
Police Chief Larry Eggert said at least five or six shots were fired at the victim's home, garage and sports utility vehicle parked in the driveway.
"It's hard to determine how many, we could only find some bullet holes in the car and the garage," Eggert said.
Witnesses said tires were heard screeching and a black male dressed in dark clothing was seen running westbound on Walnut Street away from the scene.
Eggert said it appeared the shooter got out of a waiting vehicle, stood on the sidewalk and fired at the house. And since that's the way the incident played out, according to a number of witnesses, Eggert said police believe it wasn't an act of random violence.
"That's what it looks like," Eggert said. "They were definitely aiming at the house for a reason... it was a targeted effort it appears."
