Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Town of Hartland will hold a public hearing Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss a proposed amendment to the way residential property is currently numbered.
The meeting will be held at Hartland Town Hall, 8942 Ridge Road, Gasport. The current law allows for the numbering of mailboxes, which are often across the street from the actual property. The amendment would require residential property owners to put the address on a post on the same side of the road as the main structure, 25 feet or less from the right of way. The numbers cannot be less than four inches in height and must be affixed to a contrasting background.
The amendment is the result of a request by emergency personnel and police agencies, who sometimes have difficulty finding the correct address, said Town Clerk Cynthia Boyler.
