Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Dr. Jeffrey Schratz has been appointed as a member of the City of Lockport Fire Board, Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey announced Friday.
Schratz replaces Thomas O'Shea, who recently passed away.
“I am truly humbled that Mayor McCaffrey reached out and urged me to consider accepting this appointment, especially in light of the tough challenges facing the health and emergency services care industry today. I am honored to accept the appointment to the Fire Board and I look forward to assisting the Fire Board in addressing the many difficult matters facing the Fire Department and our community during this unique time in our city’s history,” Schratz said in a statement.
Schratz has lived in Lockport with his wife, Ellen and children for 23 years while being in surgical practice. In addition to his medical practice, Schratz has served on the Board of Directors for DeSales Catholic School and the Historic Palace Theatre.
“I commend Mayor McCaffrey on the selection of Dr. Schratz to serve as a fellow Fire Board commissioner," said Fire Board President Peter Robinson. "His dedication to our community has been seen in every project and mission he undertakes, including the renovations of the Great Lakes Surgical Building on East Avenue and the Historic Palace Theatre. I welcome his special insight and know that his passion and experience will be a valuable addition to the Fire Board."
Schratz will serve the remainder of O'Shea's four-year term, which began in January.
