Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — GASPORT — A driver and his passenger were injured Saturday when their motorcycle collided with another Saturday afternoon on Hartland Road.
Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about the accident at 3:22 p.m. in the 4200 block of Hartland Road.
Investigation revealed that a group of 10 motorcycles were traveling north on Hartland Road when one fell behind. The one that fell behind tried catching up and struck the rear of another motorcycle in the group.
The 35-year-old male driver of the motorcycle that fell behind suffered head injuries. He was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, the sheriff's office said.
His passenger, a 24-year-old female, also suffered head injuries and was taken to ECMC by ambulance.
The names of the victims were withheld by the sheriff's office pending completion of the accident investigation. The driver was given a ticket for following too closely.
The driver of the motorcycle that got struck, a 53-year-old man, was not injured. His 54-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries and signed off on medical treatment at the scene, the sheriff's office said.
