Cyclist killed on Lower Mountain Road

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

CAMBRIA — A Town of Lockport man was killed in a motorcycle accident about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on Lower Mountain Road.
Alan Flowers, 25, lost control of his motorcycle on a bend just west of Plank Road. His bike was found on the road shoulder and his body was found under a tree about 25 feet away. Flowers was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's office.
Deputies interviewed motorists who attempted to revive the man, while the office received numerous 911 calls. First responders came from Cambria Volunteer Fire Co., New York State Police, and the Rural Metro and Tri-Community ambulance companies.
A homeowner in the area told the US&J that he heard a rattling noise around the time of the accident, but thought it was the sound of a trailer passing by, so he didn't check it out.
According to Sheriff James Voutour, Flowers was traveling westbound on Lower Mountain Road when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle at the curve in the road, veered onto the north side of the road and struck two mail boxes. Flowers was ejected from the bike.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit is continuing its investigation.
