Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The public is invited to an open house to learn about an initiative to use downtown tourism as an effort to revitalize Lockport.
The Lockport Tourism Focus Area Revitalization Initiative’s third public meeting will run from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lockport Public Library, 23 East Ave. Cookies and hot cocoa will be served.
The initiative’s purpose is “to develop strategic revitalization objectives that give thorough consideration to the rich industrial history in the City of Lockport focused around the Erie Canal,” according to a release.
Thursday’s attendees will have an opportunity to learn how tourism and promoting Lockport’s history can lead to redevelopment, attract new businesses, create jobs and economic improvement. There will also be a time for residents to offer their opinion or ideas on the initiative and its goals.
