Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The investigation continued Tuesday on finding the identity of a body found in a wooded area near Transit and Robinson roads by a walker Saturday in the Town of Lockport, according to the New York State Police.
The local resident came across what he believed to be human bones. State Police and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the area and confirmed the remains to be human.
The remains are believed to be that of a male, over 50 years of age and may have been in the area for about 3 years.
Troopers, BCI and Investigators from the Forensic Identification Unit are working with Niagara County Coroner and local police agencies to try and identify the remains.
State Police and the Niagara County Coroner do not suspect foul play at this time. The State Police ask that anyone with information about missing persons matching the description to please contact the State Police at 434-5589.
