Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The city of Lockport’s urban winery is one of the stops on the Holiday Happening wine tour this weekend and next.

Flight of Five Winery on Pine St. is one of 19 wineries across Niagara County that will be part of the Niagara Wine Trail event.

Wineries will be open 12-5 p.m. Friday, 10-6 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are good for all days of the tour, so guests can spread their tour out over several days.

Friday was the first day of the tour. Jen Brennan, who works at Flight of Five, said that it was a good start to the tour.

“We’ve already seen quite a few tour-goers come through,” Brennan said, adding that the winery will probably see at least 75 percent of ticket-holders.

Brennan previously worked at Niagara Landing winery, which Flight of Five owners Jacqueline and Michael Connelly owned. She has seen plenty of familiar faces in the new winery.

“We see lots of the same people every year for this event, as well as some newcomers,” Brennan said.

Each stop on the tour offers guests three wine tastings and one full-sized glass. Each winery has a different Christmas ornament. This year’s theme is the Nutcracker Ballet and guests receive a list of which winery has each ornament.

Advance ticket sales are over, but a limited number of tickets are being sold at the door of Chateau Niagara Winery, Eveningside Vineyards, Lake Ontario Winery, Midnight Run Wine Cellars, Victorianbourg Wine Estate, Vizcarra Vineyards, and Schulze Winery.

Tickets are $45 a person or $75 a couple.
