Cornerstone clipped

Police on look out for woman who robbed bank

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Niagara County Sheriff's Department, with the cooperation of the State Police, searched for a woman suspected of robbing the Cornerstone Community Credit Union on Transit Road just before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

At 3:28 p.m. the credit union called to report a robbery had just occurred at their South Transit Road location. The sheriff's patrol determined that the suspect was a heavy set black female, approximately 5-foot-4. She was wearing a black turban and a blue flannel jacket. The suspect was a customer of the credit union, according to the report. 

According to police scanners, the woman left in a red Chevy and drove east on Rapids Road. Her license plate number was read over the police radio and she was identified.

Patrols in the Town of Lockport located the vehicle that was believed to be involved in the robbery, occupied by a man. The man has been interviewed and information is being worked on regarding the female suspect in the robbery. 

Deputies searched the apartment area with the K-9 patrol.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing to work on the case and no arrests had been made as of press time. The amount of money taken has not been reported.
