Barker officials to visit China

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The China trip could also lead to a revenue opportunity for Barker. Klatt said short term visits by Liuzhou students to Barker in the fall may evolve into tuition-based enrollment for either a semester or full school year.

“We have learned that the Liuzhou parents expressed a willingness to pay tuition, as well as a small stipend to host families for the added cost associated with another child in the home,” he said.

Tuition-based enrollment of just one Liuzhou student for one semester would likely exceed the cost of travel and accommodations to complete the introductory visit to and from Liuzhou, China — a clear return on the initial investment, Klatt said.
