*UPDATE* SABRES TRADE: Team deals D Paetsch for Raffi Torres

TSN is reporting that the Buffalo Sabres have traded reserve defenseman Nathan Paetsch and a second round draft pick in the upcoming draft to the Columbus Blue Jackets for left winger Raffi Torres. In 60 games so far this season, Torres has 19 goals and 31 points, the former of which is better than any current player on the Sabres roster. Seven of those goals have come on the power play, an area that many thought the Sabres needed to improve for a playoff run. Torres was the fifth overall pick in the 2000 entry draftt, originally taken by the New York Islanders.

With the acquisition of Torres, the Sabres made some roster room, dealing winger Clarke MacArthur (13-13, 26) to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for third and fourth round draft picks. MacArthur was among the team's leading scorers in the early part of the year, but his play had fallen off and his plus-minus rating was a team worst -14.
