Police identify Wilson accident victims

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — WILSON — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the man and woman who were killed Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident on Wilson-Burt Road in the Town of Wilson.

Ronald Zauner, 69, was removed from his vehicle by Wilson firemen and personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, but was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Cathy World, 58, also from Wilson, was removed from her vehicle by the Wilson Fire Department and transported to Eastern Niagara Hospital - Newfane, where she was then pronounced deceased.

Frederick Lederhouse, 58, of Ransomville suffered non-life threatening injuries. Lederhouse was the driver of the pickup that authorities say caused the accident. Zauner and World were both unconscious by the time emergency responders arrived, but Lederhouse was alert and conscious.

The accident was reported at 3:48 p.m. and the road was clear. There does not appear to be any alcohol or drug involvement on the part of any of the three drivers. There have been no charges, but an investigation by the Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit continues.

World, a native of Newfane, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson. She worked cleaning houses in the Wilson and Newfane areas and delivered the Metro Retailer in Wilson.

She  is survived by her siblings, Gary World of Lockport, Joan (Dale) Wilson of Wilson, Lisa (Daryl) Austin of Wilson and Karen (Andre) Morrison of Woodlawn, Tenn.

Services will be held for World at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Ave., Newfane at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wilson.
