One person killed in Bypass collision

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — One person was killed just after noon today following a crash on the Lockport Bypass, just north of Robinson Road.

A small pickup crossed the center median and hit a dump truck, then immediately burst into flames, said State Police Public Information Officer Trooper Victor Morales.

He said authorities are withholding the identify of the driver until the family is contacted. The dump truck driver was not injured at all, Morales said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and Lockport Bypass is expected to be closed between Robinson Road and State Street for up to four hours for accident investigation. It's unknown when the Bypass will be reopened.
