Sheriff's office IDs motorcyclist killed

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A 20-year-old Youngstown man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle crashed into a minivan on North Ridge Road near Church Road in Cambria.

The victim, was identified Wednesday afternoon as Thomas J. Burley. He was rushed to Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, patrol units and members of the Cambria Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 9:06 p.m. report and found the operator of the motorcycle laying on the edge of the roadway in critical condition. The driver of the van, a 37-year-old female, was not injured.

The initial investigation at the scene indicated that the motorcycle, which was traveling west on North Ridge Road, crossed over the center line of the roadway and was struck by the minivan, which was traveling east on North Ridge Road.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit. Burley's name had been withheld pending the notification of his family.
