Downtown chalkboard filling up

Lockportians posting their contributions

LOCKPORT — The "Sweet Ideas" chalkboard in front of City Hall continues to fill up with statements from people about how they contribute to Lockport.

The chalkboard asks residents to respond with how they help to make the city a better place by asking the question, "I'm important to Lockport because I ..."

Responses have included:

• educate our youth

• run on the Erie Canal Towpath

• shop Main Street

• am a good neighbor

• appreciate Lockport's rich history

• give to Saint John's Outreach

• am a Bills fan

• help my grandma

The 8-by-8-foot interactive display, by downtown business owner Ellen Martin and the Market Street Art Center will remain in front of City Hall until Monday.

If participants find the board is full, Martin suggests they write "over others in different colors. It should be a free-for-all!"
